Speech & Language Therapist and Learning Support Assistants


SPEECH & LANGUAGE THERAPIST

Permanent/Full Time (52 weeks per year)

Band 5/Early Band 6

Required immediately

We are looking for an enthusiastic Band 5/early Band 6 level Speech and Language Therapist to work as part of our Therapy team. This post would suit an individual who already has experience of working as a paediatric therapist, and has experience of working in a school setting, specifically with children diagnosed with expressive and receptive language difficulties, autistic spectrum disorders and/or complex developmental trauma needs. Interest and/or experience in developing social-emotional skills in children as a special interest area is essential.

You will work in close partnership with our class teachers, pastoral team, Occupational Therapists, Educational Psychologist and families/carers to help the pupils reach their full potential.

Main responsibilities

  • To manage a caseload of children with a range of speech, language and communication needs relating to early life history, ASD and other conditions
  • To complete comprehensive assessments for each pupil on your caseload in order to determine their individual speech, language and communication needs
  • To plan, deliver and evaluate 1:1 and group evidence based therapy programmes to develop skills in receptive/expressive spoken language, attention and listening, social communication and other areas where appropriate
  • To develop effective working relationships with school staff and liaise regularly regarding implementation of programmes and strategies across the school environment.

Essential Criteria - HCPC registered Speech and Language Therapist

At Beech Lodge building relationships is key to what we do. Our therapists are very much part of the whole school team and although you would mainly be working one to one and in group situations, you would be fully involved in the day to day life of the school and get to know all of the children even if you do not work directly with them.

Learning Support Assistants Wanted

Full Time and Part Time

Required immediately

We are looking for dynamic, compassionate and energetic Learning Support Assistants to join our team. We have a positions in Key Stage 2.

Beech Lodge school is an exciting, rapidly expanding school for children who have struggled in mainstream education. Our pupils really want friends but find friendships tricky. They need help to have the confidence to trust adults and to have a go with work that they don’t believe that they can do. They need help to understand their emotions and how to manage them. They need staff who will be accepting, curious and empathic.

Our pupils have many skills and talents, we are looking for staff who enjoy at least some of the following: playing dodge ball, football, taking part in outdoor education, long boarding, wood work, arts and crafts, board games, animal care etc.

You will expressly want a career in education and to work with vulnerable children. Experience working with children who have experienced developmental trauma and or dyslexia/dyscalculia is desirable. You will receive support and training, a competitive salary.
You will need to have good levels of written and spoken English, maths and be IT literate.
