School Nurse

School Nurse

Beech Lodge School is a specialist independent school that caters for students aged from 7 to 18.

Most of our pupils have Education, Health and Care plans. Many have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences and we have a number of pupils who are on the autistic spectrum.

Our school aims to provide a caring and empathic education and help develop independence, good mental health and prepare pupils to transition to the next stage of their lives.

We are looking to employ a full time, term time only Band 5 Nurse. We are interested to hear from you if you have relevant experience in working with children or young adults with SEND or if you have nursing experience in a mainstream or specialist school before.

Monday to Friday 8.30am – 4.00pm Term time only

The role involves:

  • overseeing our First Aid provision and the administration of medication
  • helping staff with risk assessments for individual pupils with health needs
  • working with individuals and small groups to teach relevant parts of the Relationships and Sex Education Curriculum across the school
  • providing support and guidance to parents on health-related matters
  • working as part of multi-agency teams where relevant

School Nurse Job Description

Learning Support Assistant (Full Time)

Working 1 to 1 with a pupil with mobility difficulties.

Monday to Friday term time only (8.30pm to 4.00pm)

The role involves discretely and respectfully supporting the pupil when making transitions in some lessons, between classrooms and at break and lunch times whilst maintaining their dignity and independence wherever possible.

Supporting them to safely access the wide range of learning opportunities at Beech Lodge.

You will need to have experiences of working with young people or adults with physical needs and will have recent training in safe and appropriate manual handling techniques.

You will be a good communicator and able to work as part of a team which includes parents, teachers, Occupational therapists and other health professionals.

You will be a good listener who can build a professional working relationship with the named pupil and other pupils and staff you work with.

You will be able to contribute to written reports on pupil progress required.

Your role will include assistance to other pupils in the class when not directly supporting your named pupil.

We are looking for  dynamic, compassionate and energetic Learning Support Assistants to join our team.

You will expressly want a career in education. Experience working with children and young people with additional needs is desirable. You will receive high levels of support, training and a competitive salary. Good levels of Maths and English are essential.
