Interoception – the 8th sense

Most of us take Interoception for granted – we can respond to feelings like hunger and tiredness, and can recognise and manage emotions such as anxiety or anger. But some people, including many of our pupils, don’t recognise these feelings in the same way, and that can make the body a confusing place to inhabit.

Luckily, our OT team Loulette and Celeste are great advocates of Interoceptive Awareness, supporting pupils in the classroom and 1:1 therapeutic sessions. Last week they opened their doors to the parent/carer community to tell them all about it giving them tips on how to remind their child to stop and notice their body’s cues.

Thanks Team OT!
