Laura Solari BAHons PGCE (QTS)

What I love about my job:

Being part of a school community where everyone has the very best interests of the children at heart. It is great to work with people who are creative and encourage each other to “think outside the box” to support our pupils. It is lovely working somewhere where difference is not merely tolerated but celebrated and each member of the community, whether that be staff or student, is encouraged to use their own particular skills and experience to help each other.  Working somewhere where empathy and building relationships is at the core of everything is amazing, as are those magic “moments” when you make a breakthrough with a child.

Who or what inspires me:

Hard work and perseverance, even when the odds are stacked against you. Being humble , however successful you are  and sharing gifts and talents with other people. Acts of kindness and people who take the time to listen and just be with someone when they are in distress. I am also inspired by the resilience of our children and their willingness to try and establish relationships with each other although this is an area of difficulty for many of them.

Little known fact about me:

I lived in Florence for a year and was fluent in French and Italian (a bit rusty now sadly). I ran the London Marathon in 2017 and raised money for Place 2 Be, a mental health charity for children and young people.
