Karen McIlfatrick BSc Hons PGCE

Assistant Head Teaching & Learning, KS3 & 4 and class teacher

What I love about my job:
I love that every day is different. There’s a new challenge or a new breakthrough each day. Working with incredible children and fabulous staff makes those challenges worth it all at the end of the day. That everyday is so different and I never go very long without smiling.

Who or what inspires me:
The children and parents of Beech Lodge inspire me. They are some of the strongest and most determined people I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet.

Little known fact about me:
I have played rugby for the St Andrews women’s rugby team, I have attempted to learn how to row... But I’m best known in Beech Lodge for my netball skills (or so Mrs Barnes was made to think... Thanks Mr Rider). I would like to use this opportunity to clarify that I’m NOT a netball player.
