What I love about my job:
I still don’t feel like a I have a job as most people moan or hate getting up to go to work. I jump out of bed every morning because I truly admire the children we have at Beech Lodge, I respect the parents and adore my colleagues. Being able to see students in a 1:1 capacity as well as teach whole classes gives me the unique opportunity to spend time with each and everyone of our cohort.
Who or what inspires me:
My father, he got kicked out of five schools for being “naughty” (dyslexia was not a thing in the 1960’s). He didn’t finish school but went on to become a mechanic; grow and sell two businesses and happily retired at 55. He also was part of a parent council that set up a farm school for my brother and I to attend before heading off to boarding school.
Little known fact about me:
When growing up on a farm in South Africa, I had a pet peacock that sat on the roof cried every time a car drove down the drive.
